For a while now, the subject of finding a life partner has undergone a series of interesting phases. In the days of our parents and before then, people either had arranged marriages or got married to people purely because they liked them. But with time, young people began to learn from the mistakes of the old and decided to be more informed and prepared. The importance of seeking God’s face in getting a marriage partner became apparent. So, people took it very seriously, prayed, and fasted to get clarity from God. (more…)

Yesterday, i attended a bridal shower and it was a lot of fun. It was a girls day out and the “brides to be” were fired with questions from all fronts. There were some statements that were made that i responded briefly to. Today, i’ll be writing on one of the points discussed, for the benefit of my readers. (more…)

“No person is free who is not master of himself.” - Epictetus, Greek philosopher

I started writing on the functions/roles of emotions in my last post. I’ll continue in this one.

Emotion according to wikipedia, is “a mental and physiological state associated with a wide variety of feelings, thoughts, and behaviours. It is a prime determinant of the sense of subjective well-being and appears to play a central role in many human activities.” Emotions are powerful and hence, there’s a need to manage them well. If emotions are not well managed, they could mess up one’s dreams and relationships. (more…)

Hmmm….SALTY

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled under-foot by men.” - Matt 5:13 (NKJ)

There was a period when it seemed as if everyone around me who i had trusted over the years began to degenerate as far as strength of character was concerned. It was as if you had to search long and very hard to find people who were morally upright. (more…)

BOYS VS GIRLS

Monday, July 21st, 2008

“Equal” is not always synonymous with “the same.” Men and women are created equal. But, boys and girls are not born the same. Here are some interesting and funny differences between boys and girls i came across and i would like to know if they’re, in your opinion, true. (more…)

WORDS OF OBEDIENCE….

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Recently, i’ve had cause to speak with a number of young people, one on one. During one of those sessions, i spoke with a lady who wanted to grow spiritually. I shared some things with her and gave her some assignments involving bible study, praying the Pauline prayers, etc. Then i encouraged her about the power of words in achieving your goal. I gave her some confession write-ups and i’ll like to share one of them with you today. (more…)

MR SUPERVISOR

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Sometime ago, i wrote an article on having finished my course work and exams for my masters programme and how i was given my most dreaded lecturer as supervisor. Since then, i had been going back and forth to get a project topic approved. It has not been funny at all. Up until last week, he has rejected about 25 project topics i had taken to him and had refused to meet with me to tell me why he rejected them. (more…)
