Happy new year folks! I trust by now, we must have tons of nice sounding goals and resolutions for the new year. I’d like to share with you all on what i believe will help us get God’s best in this new year. (more…)

EVERY DEED A SEED

Friday, December 5th, 2008

The year is winding up. People are in a hurry. Deadlines need to be met. Money needs to be made to take care of the demands of the festive season - children need new clothes and shoes to show off to their friends, variety of meals and goodies need to be made available, so everyone is running against time. Yesterday as i drove home from work, i felt the impatience in the air. People drove along slowly moving traffic as if they were making to ram into vehicles ahead of them just to get along. (more…)

The 4 Way Test

Friday, November 28th, 2008

While i was growing up (I still am J), my parents were very active in the rotary club. Both of them had been president at different times. Every year, we had several events; the biggest event being the annual Christmas party. There were lots of gifts to be won and we were made to participate in different games and exercises. I remember one of the exercises was the recitation of the Rotary Club’s 4 way test. It goes thus: (more…)

MOMENT OF TRUTH

The truth is “hate speech” only to those who have something to hide.–Michael Rivero

Last Saturday, i watched an episode of a program i had come to like on Series channel, it’s titled, “Moment of Truth”. It’s a reality TV show in which people get to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars just by telling the truth. The program is such that, the contestant is placed on a hot seat, asked questions and with every correct answer earns increasing amounts of money; he/she can choose to walk away at the peak of every stage if the questions get too personal (they always do); he/she is allowed to come with very close family - spouse, parents, and or siblings; for moral support and to check what information one should not divulge in the bid to answer a question in order to win money. IDLE OR LAZY?

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

3 days ago, one of the security men that man the gate of the estate where i live came to meet me to inform me that i was supposed to give him money. I was surprised and asked him for what? He quickly tried to remind me of a day he helped wash my sister’s car, she wasn’t around then. Of course, his money was paid without further questions. (more…)

NO CHOICE…..

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Among Lagos drivers, “shunting” is very common. Laughingly, my husband on a few occasions termed them “entrepreneurs”. He says they exhibit the core characteristic of entrepreneurs: they move out of a regularly moving queue (the norm) and move forward using another lane (uncertainty); when they get to the fore-front, they either force their way in, or appeal to someone to give them an in-road. The only difference between the two is that the driver breaks laws by facing oncoming vehicles in order to achieve his goal of getting ahead while the entrepreneur faces obstacles headlong until they give way. WOMEN & MONEY

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Some weekends ago, i started reading a book titled, “Women & Money” by Suze Orman. In the book, there was a chapter that i found particularly interesting, it spoke about the 8 qualities of a wealthy woman and i thought to share it with my female readers. (more…)

LOOK UP

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Hello Friends, i’ll like to conclude my last post by sharing a thought on the second verse of the scripture in Hebrews 12.

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God”. - Heb 12:2 (more…)

LAY IT ASIDE

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

It’s been a little while, i’ve been out of town; went for my sister-in-law’s wedding. It was a huge success, though very hectic. I enjoyed the church service, particularly the message and i’ll like to write and expantiate on some things i was reminded of all over again in the course of the message. (more…)

Last week, I spoke with, and counselled a young lady who had been fraught with a lot of issues in the past 7 years or so. She had been a product of a broken marriage between her parents; she had gotten pregnant and had a child along the line, she had kept multiple partners to maintain a good lifestyle and cater for her child who is now in school, etc. (more…)
